Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 9, 2020
Published: Oct. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Still bought out Zack Smith, upped what I gave Strome before (1.5 to 2). Adjusted for the Hawks going with only the young goalies. With a full roster (not necessarily a good one), I don't think the Hawks add any UFAs, just isn't much roster space. I think they'll just sit on the cap space. This is probably not a playoff team in this current construction, and may only get worse if they deal assets at the deadline such as Saad.

If they were giving up on this year they should trade saad now for the best pick they can get. Then take on a 1 year cap dump with a pick. Maximize the assets! Lol

I agree, they shouldn't wait too long as they need to maximize the value for him if they truly aren't going to resign him. I'm certain even in a flat cap, maybe closer to the deadline they could get a 1st round pick for him.

Even if they have to retain a mil or two. He should land you a mid to late first rounder.

They'd likely get more for Saad at the TDL - often rental then get a 1st + a prospect. And they could retain half then and still get a pick for taking on another contract from a contender trying to make space. Teams are more desperate at the TDL typically and the owners would have to spend less cash on any incoming players.
