dell over campbell

Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 13, 2020
Published: Oct. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dell has over a 100 NHL games played compared to Campbell 60 ? but Jack gets twice the money, in this weird covid cap crunching era, I say Campbell gets lost in the shuffle, Dubas wasted two 3rd Rd picks for a 3rd string expansion bait goalie.

Why? Cambell has been great. Leafs spend very little money on goaltending and with a tight schedule approaching they will need both Andersen and Campbell and possibly even dell.

yeah thats a no.

Campbell is younger and has showed he can do well with the leafs posting a 0.915 even with our dcore at the time.

Dell will be with the marlies this year unless Freddie gets traded (nah) and when freddie goes Dubas may go Campbell/Dell. With Kaskisuo gone Dubas needed a new AHL goalie as Woll/Scott are not ready yet for a full time starting job. I like the signing as it sets the leafs up to where Freddie can be let go in a year if necessary.

Dell is the third stringer. Campbell can be a solid 1b and split games with Freddy to give him enough rest.

Leafs waiver wire options, Dell or Campbell, teams would not touch Campbells 2 more seasons at $1.65 in the covid era (only a team to sabotage the Leafs, Campbell is the only goalie the Leafs have to leave available for the Kraken). The 800k savings is the difference in keeping an extra roster player or resigning Mikhey or Dermott to extra seasons with an higher AAV.

Campbell is over 28 years old and has never played more than 30 games in a season, he isn't a 1b....meanwhile Dell is just a couple years older and has proven capable of being a 1b.

Yes Dell is a Marlie. Just stating the option of 800k could prove important. Dubas trading 2 3rd Rd picks means even if Campbell pulls a Sparks, he'll still get the job.

I would have loved to see Dell sign a 2 year contract, than Campbell wouldn't have to be put on Kraken's expansion exposure.

Dell is not a third string. At LEAST a backup

Campbell is the better. Dell is the 3G for Toronto for insurance. He’s a natural backup but he’s the backup for the backup in Toronto

Campbell gets picked up immediately, dell may or may not make it through waivers. But he didn’t cost us anything.

I’m pretty sure a guy who had a .928 two years ago and a .915 once traded to the leafs is 1. Worth 1.6m 2. Would get picked up on waivers 3. Better than Dell rn
