Calgary needs 2 wingers...They'd be adding $2M to their cap.

Hardly gutting depth...still have lots of comparable forwards in the minors to fill bottom 3.

After this deal the Flames would have just 3.5m in cap space. Mangiapane and Kylington will use all of that alone (maybe more). That would leave us with no cap space to not enough cap space and no room for any extra players.

Our current cap situation (5.7m remaining) leaves us just enough to sign Mangiapane (2.5-3m), Kylington (0.8-1.0), cheap winger (0.7) and an extra defenseman (0.7) and if Mangiapane and Kylington sign cheap enough, an extra forward too.

The Flames cannot add cap right now, even if we could, why would we bail you out without a sweetener? Players better than Kerfoot are literally being given away, why would we give up Bennett for him and Engvall? If we wanted to add that much cap Bennett we'd send him to Tampa for a better player.
