I'd love to get paid a 1st to take on a player like Johnson but that damn contract is a hard pill to swallow. Rather let him sit in the AHL and see Tampa struggle to get cap compliant

Because I don't think it really helps them that much. Johnson is fine for 5m and if he gets top 6 minutes, he will produce. I think 70pt johnson isn't happening, but 50 could pretty easily. They would likely lose him to Seattle. Or, he gives you flexibility at the very least with Krejci in the last year of his contract. He is decent defensively. I don't like adding another undersized forward because they tend to disappear in the playoffs, but I would guess that pick lands in the low 20's. Most people would be ok with paying Debrusk somewhere close to the money johnson makes, and Johnson is probably going to produce more...

I also think Tampa struggles...weird year - it's going to be a different team.

Id rather pay debrusk than Johnson. Johnson is showimg signs of slowing down and he did get top 6 minutes in the playoffs and he was no where to be found.

Not to pick hairs, but Debrusk didn't really show up either. I like him and he has a higher ceiling at this point, but the sure thing would be Johnson. For me it's I would take and Pay Debrusk over Johnson too, but I would take Johnson and Weegar over Debrusk.

I don't think Johnson is the answer, but I don't think Debrusk is either. They need to get bigger up front.

I am doing this as a band aid until the younger guys are ready. Hope Johnson has a good year because 88 and 63 will miss the beginning and move Johnson at deadline.
