The leafs offered Dermott 895k. If someone offers him over 1.4M the leafs will let him walk and take the 3rd round pick compensation. NO way they pay him 1.4M. Obviously he didn’t sign the 895k offer sheet yet but he’s not gonna get more than 1M/year from Toronto. And he’s not arbitration eligible.

And Mikheyev is arbitration eligible and has a hearing next week I believe. He will probably win something like 1.5-2M a year

Got it! Great points. It would suck to see Dermott leave, but not a huge deal. Can always sign a replacement or get Sandin in instead. And I think they'll sign Micheyev for maybe $1.5 mil.

They win if someone offers him 1.4M. They get a 3rd round Pick compensation. That’s more valuable in my opinion. Especially than a 1.4M/yr Dermott. The Leafs would definitely let him walk and take the 3rd round pick. Only acouple teams would be interested in Dermott. Everyone is interested in a 3rd round Pick. You can trade it to any team w/ no cap concerns for them immediately. And Nate Schmidt just got traded for a 3rd round Pick. If he gets an offer sheet of 1.395M or above and the team has to give up a 3rd round Pick compensation, the Leafs definitely don’t match that offer and let him walk and take the 3rd round pick.
