PERFECT VERSION OF THE LEAFS V2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Making the team worse to have extra cap space isn't smart. Why not make the team better.</div></div>
Murphy > Brodie, and even more come playoff time. Bigger, stronger, hits more, younger, signed for longer. And overall we are better because we can afford other good defenseman/forwards.

Paying for cap space over three years is going to cost a premium. But yeah probably a bit too much, which is a good thing. Hopefully Treliving can make it happen!

PERFECT VERSION OF THE LEAFS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>A) This is different from what the AGM creator originally posted.
B) Murphy is worth a 1st and maybe slightly more retained as I said in a prior post. Brodie would need to be half retained and flipped at the deadline for the 1st plus deal so fair enough...he was not in the original proposal. Robertson is cooked beans, the guy needs to change his game or he's done in the NHL....he plays reckless and has paid a price for it both in the pros and juniors....so the original deal was Murphy (-2M which is $6M and a retention slot) for Robertson and 1st and I said the hawks pass because of my personal feelings on Robertson.
C) Stop getting your feelings hurt</div></div>
I didn't change anything from the original trade which you commented on in this Armchair GM.

The analytics might say he is, but Murphy is a lot bigger and tougher and younger and signed for longer and I think that outweighs the analytics. With us getting Klingberg we need to balance that out. Murphy - 6’4’’, 212 lbs, Brodie - 6’1’’, 185 lbs. Big difference in the playoffs.

Yeah it's pretty pricey (I probably offered a bit too much) but that's the price the leafs have to pay for overpaying their stars and not having any cap room. Gotta pay a premium for that team friendly deal.

I would like to see the Leafs get Nino Niederreiter but it would most likely be $5 MIL or more.
I like Motte but would try to get Aston-Reese with that money.</div></div>
Thanks! Yes agreed, hopefully we could possibly extend Weeger. And yes you are probably righta bout Nino, but maybe if we give him term like Jarnkrok he would be okay with a lower AAV.
And yes now that I think about it, Aston-Reese might be the better option and he is a much bigger/stronger player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>This is just mob talk. Last year Chychrun didn't have impressive numbers. It was the year before when Arizona was much better than last year. He's hardly the player fans on here think he is. Crouse is a medium sized fish in a pond. Put him in a lineup filled with actual good players and he's falling down the depth chart. He's not very good defensively, but he hits and every year the same type of fan dreams of finding the next Tom Wilson, Crouse isn't that. He would be a 3rd or 4th liner in TO.</div></div>
I'm okay with Crouse playing the third or fourth line - that's where I've placed him.
Chychrun didn't have good numbers this past year because Arizona was dumb and playing the Ghostisbere over him in offensive situations (pp, and sometimes even 5v5).

Chychrun is a GREAT player - and he did what he did playing on a terrible Arizona team. Sandin COULD become as good or better than him, but we don't know for sure. Chychrun has already proven himself so we know what we have. Sandin is also MUCH smaller and not as good defensively in my opinion.
Crouse showed that he is better than Ritchie while playing on a terrible Arizona team as well. I'm fine with paying him even lower - gives us more cap space. We need players like him on our team - gives us a great checking third-line, while having a bit more skill on our fourth line.

There's been reports (Scott Powers) that Chicago and Leafs are in talks to exchange Mrazek's contracts for picks/prospects. Oilers are looking to trade and are really interested in Campbell and Muzzin could waive so it is a possibility. If we want Chychrun AND Crouse, we will have to overpay a bit, but I'm fine with just getting rid of Holl and Kerfoot is good, but we need him off the books to get bigger.

The Toronto-Canuck Sharknados
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>One of the very few posts, which improves the Leafs for this season and still cap compliant. Leafs certainly would be going on in this year.
Though the Leafs would be better this year....but how much? Holl is superior to Lyubushin. Hertl is better than Kerfoot, though Kerfoot is probably the Leafs fourth best forward this year.
So now the addition of Miller worth two first and two seconds? That's subjective.
But good thoughts on the trades</div></div>
Thanks yeah those are very good points! Holl has definitely been playing better as of late, so that was a tough one. Kerfoot is great, but I think we just need to get a big bigger but still retain that fast tempo game.
I think overall with these additions, they get tougher to play against, but you're right, Miller might not be worth that much, but in order to retain salary, especially with two years left on this contract, that very well could be the asking price.
