The leafs offered Dermott 895k. If someone offers him 1.395M or over the leafs will let him walk and take the 3rd round pick compensation. NO way they pay him 1.75M. Obviously he didn’t sign the 895k offer sheet yet but he’s not gonna get more than 1M/year from Toronto. And he’s not arbitration eligible.

And Mikheyev is arbitration eligible and has a hearing next week I believe. He will probably win something like 1.5-2M a year

Yep this is rost + TAXI SQUAD. If you put the taxi squad in the minors then the roster is actually under the cap

Also, there was apparently a trade offer from Florida that would send Weegar to TOR and Dermott and Johnsson to FLA. The leafs said no and then proceeded to trade Johnsson under his value for a cap dump. Obviously Dermott was the reason they said no to that trade.
The leafs like Dermott and they want to keep him. He's worth the 1.75

As for Mikheyev, the average of his ask and the leafs offer going into arbitration is 1.85 so i went slightly above that to account for the arbiter's judgement.
