But most of the players brought in are place holders and on 1yr deals only 3 players signed 2yr deals. Yzerman did exactly what he said would icing a better team without giving up any futures to do so. Detroit will be better next season but will still finish in the bottom 3. Yzerman isn't going to give up that 1st for Gaudreau. Maybe they would trade Fabbri but I don't see it happening at least not until after the season starts. With Detroit recent play they have trouble getting free agents to come to Detroit. Signing Stecher and Griess was a big surprise. Resigning Fabbri and then turning right around and trading him is something you don't do if you want free agents to sign with your team. Fabbri was one of very very few bright spots for Detroit last season and he is slated to be Detroit's 2C at the start of the season. Right now Detroit has 1 good center and that is Larkin. I tend to ramble on a bit. But one player can not carry a team any more and giving up 2 good assets right now is just more than Detroit can afford at thus point.
