From my understanding Robertson makes the team or goes to Europe. Don't think he is AHL eligible, may be wrong though

Pretty sure you will need to LTIR anyone who gets injured if you want to call anyone up. That will make things difficult when guys get minor issues and are only expected out a game or so. No backup forwards either. In a year where teams might be playing 3 games in 4 nights.

I'm imagining there will be some sort of 'taxi squad' allowances this year if there is no AHL, and there are existing 'emergency call-up' rules but i have no idea how they work. Sufficient to say that if a guy gets hurt it should really be no problem to insert a call-up. The issue i see is waiver exemption. We seem to be ok in that regard.

Teams will still be required to be cap compliant as far as I can see.

Yes, but there is Waiver Eligibility enough for that. And it's hard to imagine operating NHL rosters without an AHL or some kind of reserve pool. Just speculating obviously. These things are very much unanswered. Leafs seem to have lots of flexibility with Engvall, Robertson, Sandin, Liljegren all being waiver exempt.
