Making another cup run

Description
LA trade is just getting any asset for Condon when Murray is healthy

Winnipeg trade is a good return for Trouba/ a lhd a prospect in need of change of scenery - pouliout and an average to mid grade prospect

Carolina trade is Fluery improves their goal tending and a cap dump. Pittsburgh gets Staal back and allows PIT to run w 4 scoring lines . Bonino is likely gone next year due to increased salary.
Goal tending is real young for PIT. It could be a weak link, but it's gamble I take.

Might as keep Condon with his 575,00 salary this year. Staal do you really want to have him after this season for six more years.? Just with Murray' new deal, you're over the cap in 2017/2018

Condon trade- I see your point..... insurance policy vs late round pick

Staal is tough, but i see a lot of value in a big bodied shutdown center that can put up 40 plus points and play top 9. I think that he will produce to that level until the contract expires.

Cap issues.... Kunitz gone.... 3.8 mil Bonino is probably gone.. 1.9 m Cullen may retire... 1m Daley is probably gone... 3.3m Shultz is up too... 1.4 m...

Dumo gets 4m... Murray is close to 4m. Sprong/ Sheary/ Guentzel should be able to replace Kunitz/ Bonino. Resign either Daley or Shultz and with the cap hopefully going up a little it should be ok.

This offseason they should also either sign Hornquist or deal him before he can leave via free agency.

Decisions Decisions.....

No heck no to the Staal trade. He cant even play half a season, and you dont pay someone 6 million for 6 years when he sucks. When he was in pittsburgh he was carried by sid and geno. Now the league sees how well he actually plays. He isnt worth flower alone yet alone flower plus someone who has great chemistry with our 4th liners already. Staal is carolinas problem now and trust me no other team wants to be apart of said problem.

Carolina could be a feasible landing spot for Fleury but taking on Staal's contract is just not worth it. I don't have a problem with the player but he would be 6 million on Pittsburgh's cap until 2023. The IPhone 20 might be out by then and Pittsburgh would still be paying Jordan Staal. That is a ridiculous commitment to anyone who is not a part of the core (aka 87,71,58 & maybe Phil). I still really like what Bonino is doing, but even if that goes bad then there are dozens of 40-45 point per year 3Cs you can find on the trade/FA market for less than half of what Staal would be making.
