Три пика в первом раунде за Кейна? Это не возможно даже за Макдевида

Three picks in the first round for Kane? It is not possible even for McDavid

More of what? Picks and prospects? Because Vrana for Kane, while taking on cap, is already a long term loss.

eta: short term loss, too, maybe: http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?report=scoringRates&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20192020&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,40&sort=pointsPer605v5,goalsPer605v5&page=0&pageSize=100

2nd edit: How about this: Oshie, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Lucas Johansen, and Brett Leason? More? More realistic, for sure.

I’d say if you want Kane at 5.25M I’d like to see the original package with McMichael. I’m not going to get into a debate about whether that’s overpayment or not but Kane’s deal is (if anything) a bargain. At 5.25, that would be arguably the best deal in the NHL. That isn’t going to come cheap.

Again, Vrana's points/60 were above Kane's last year. His cap hit is 3.35M. The OP trade is undebatably awful for WSH this year.

Stamkos’ are above McDavid and Mackinnon’s. 1 for 1?

Vrana’s are also above Pettersson and Crosby lol

Oh and let’s not even mention the fact that Ovechkin’s are 49th place which is 22 spots behind Nick Bonino.

So Bonino for Ovechkin and A 1st?

Maybe 2 1sts since Bonino is only making 4.1 compared to almost 10M for Ovi

I mean, given the difference in age and cap hits, I'm sure Nashville passes. wink

It’s funny how you took one isolated statistic to determine that Vrana is better than Kane.

What about, by even strength points, they're each top-twelve at their position, but in hockey years, Vrana is just getting started?

EVP are useless to compare guys who play different positions and situations, but looking at 2nd line wings from two different teams? It's not too much of a stretch to think that similar points/60 shows that each is good enough to play 1st line if they could just catch a break. smile

Pettersson had two more even strength points than Vrana, and is three years younger, and at a better cap hit, so he's got more trade value than Vrana, obviously.

So will you disagree with that when Pettersson’s making 10+ M in 1 year?

Because I guarantee you if you made a proposal for Pettersson for Vrana, McMichael, 2 firsts. The caps still say hard no

Depends what Vrana's making next year, though. If Vrana's making 6M, I agree, he'd be more valuable then. If Pettersson is at 10M and Vrana's somehow at 20M, the Caps might consider that. The idea is to build a winning team within the salary cap.

You don’t understand how salaries work. If Vrana was better than Pettersson than he’d be able to command a higher salary then Pettersson

Also pretty sure Thornton>Ovechkin considering salaries then

At the time of signing, sure. After that, guys who continue improving and outperform their salary develop more trade value. LOok at the guys Tampa picked up at the deadline. Neither is as good as you'd expect to develop from a late 1st round pick in a deep draft, but they're not too far off, and they're paid like replacement level guys, so in a year where Tampa felt they had a good shot at the title anyway, they allowed them to stack their team a bit more, under the cap. Are you intentionally misunderstanding for comic effect, here? Because I thought that was my thing. smile

Dude what? Pettersson and Vrana are RFAs the same year, next year. So if Vrana is better than Pettersson (as determined by your stat that showed Vrana>Kane) then by that logic Vrana should cost you guys 10M + and be more valuable in a trade then Pettersson.

Also by YOUR LOGIC, Kane is worth a huge return because he’s a 100+ point player making 5.25M according to this trade
