Description

I like the stay put by Gorton this year in a tough UFA market. One more lame year, let the kids develop, drop the buyouts (+ $8 mil next year) and drop smith and johnson next year (+ $5.5 mil next year and 2 roster spots for the prospects), resign chytil buch and lindgren and you still have some cap (after those 3 get raises, about $8 million?) to make some nice additions

Definitely something down these lines will happen. I'd say Ryan Strome only gets 1 year however. Assuming Chytil, Buchnevich, and Lindgren take the $8m we get from clearing the buyouts that leaves a $15.8m budget ($10m from Strome, Smith, and Johnson's expired deals + $5.8m current free space) to splash on a high quality 2C and make room for prospects with high bonus money

I think Lemieux will get a bit more than that. I cant see LAF playing on the third line.
