Without anchor contracts Year 2

Created by: cbreezy14
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 28, 2020
Published: Oct. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
For Seattle expansion.. not sure if they would take on Johnson. I think they might because he is from the State of Washington and still a good player although maybe over paid. Regardless throw them a solid prospect to help encourage them to get him off the books. Potentially he has a big year in Vancouver and they want to keep him.. but if he is okay and they want out of that contract then attach Kole Lind and maybe a pick to get out from under it.

Sign Pettersson, Hughes and Demko assuming he has a big year to long term contracts. I don’t want to hear Petey gets Marner money or Hughes is over 10 million.. they might get that money.. or take a bridge deal.. I don’t know but in this economic climate these deals are atleast in the ball park.

Hoglander and Podkolzin would need to play key roles on the team on ELC which I think they are capable of. Can always slot further down in the line up. I think bringing back Tryamkin for atleast one year is very important to help Podkolzin transition to the NHL.

Between Holtby, Stetcher and Luongo recapture penalty coming off the books it gives Canucks around 10 million in space.. 13 if you count the free agent winger I created. Qualify Boeser at 7.5 (1.65) more than he is currently making, an option to extend Jake, Motte and Zack and bring in a back up goalie should be easy to do.

The last two seasons outlined would have Vancouver as cup contenders. At this point they have all their core pieces locked up long term, strength and depth at all positions. Essentially they would look at the Tampa model and have the ability to target certain players that fill a need in order to put them over the top

Gotta read the post before that’s why the title is year 2. Without you having to read the other post it’s essentially saying without Vancouver’s anchor contracts they could have offered the same price Colorado paid to get Toews from the Islanders
