Description
Saw a lot of posts about Ladd/Johnson being dumped. I think this could be a huge opportunity for the Wings to improve their roster while also getting a bunch of free picks/prospects.

It's going to take more on each trade for the wings to take on these Contracts, as is it's not enough

Luke Glendening returns more then a 6th round pick, Especially when Yzerman retains 50% Glenny will return a 3rd rounder rather easily. Ladd 3 years $5.5M per Johnson 4 x $5M per too much Yzerman wants short term not long term.

Would you really need more to take on Johnson? I mean he's like your 4th best forward.
I see your point with Ladd, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on LTIR before his contract is up. That would make this trade a win for you.

Okay, I can see what your saying, but I think if Johnson has a good year you could probably get a second for him at the draft. The only reason why his value is this low is that teams are trying to make Tampa pay for their cup win. Any other time he would fetch at least a 3rd or 4th (and probably a 2nd tbh).
With Ladd as I said above I think he might go on LTIR before his contract is up. But here's the part 2 of this https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2099364. After that year these guys only have one and two years left respectively. Ladd you could eat for one more year and Johnson you can either play on your 2nd/3rd line or you can probably trade him. If you can get something for him, you've just gotten a free 1st.

Also I can agree on Glendening, I was just trading him for whatever mostly to free up a roster spot. A 3rd is fine for him.

Yup we would need more, a late first pick 28-32 is closer to a 2nd pick is not enough to take 5M+ for a player that is declining rapidly and signed for 4 more years. This is frans Nielsen all over again and tampa is in a major cap crunch. We would have to squeeze them for everything at this time, I would want a 1st a 2nd and either bouliet or foote. I know it's way way overpay but this is the world we live in. Tampa needs help in the worst way and we aren't taking this contract for just a pick. Think about it, staal went for a 2nd in 2021, the tb first would be about 10-12 picks higher then that 2nd, but we still have 3 more years of his contract. Absolutely not worth it to take him for anything but a massive hall.

Ladd will cost a lot as well, prob around the same first + 2nd + good prospect, wilde/bellows/bolduc types.

The Blues have neither the use nor the cap for that.

I think Johnson will rebound and have some value next offseason. If the NHL actually has a season this year the salary cap climate will take a step towards normalcy as it progresses. If he's on a 0.50 points/game pace by the deadline I think teams will have interest.

Wdym you're only taking on 900k.
Edit: Looking at your depth charts you're right he's probably not needed on the fourth line.
Just pretend I traded him to Tampa or someone instead. Someone will have interest in him for depth.

Teams passed already on him when he went through waivers, given Tampa's cap situation and 2 giant rfas to sign. They are going to have to mega pay to get those Contracts off the books

Yeah. I'm saying that on the Red Wings he'd probably have some value, since they would have no pressure to trade him and he's a solid 3rd liner.
