How many times are you going to have to be told that these "reports" were obviously false. I mean we signed Taylor Hall.

Not all markets are the same, not all owners are the same.

You signed Taylor Hall but only to a 1 year deal. Seems like a wait and see pattern to me.

Taylor Hall is also not a very good argument to use because you are saying situations will have changed for teams since no one is struggling to hit the cap floor this season and for some reason that situational change won't effect the change of heart of the Pegula's this offseason.

That line of thinking would apply to all the teams wouldn't it? No teams have really been cutting back costs other than the ones who arnt going to be competitive anyway. Its the OP suggesting the situation will have changed again after this season, I'm just wondering why that situation will not have changed for the Pegula's who we have reason to believe arn't happy already.

I dont see your logic in any capacity. Your completely buying into a rumor thats verifiably wrong, then when presented with evidence its wrong, you defend the rumor with the same rumor. Its a rumor for a reason.

I dont even know how you started comparing him to Rittich in the first place. They arent comparable

I would say they are quite comparable, Rittich was coming off a 45 start season with a 2.61 GAA and .911 SV%, he was expected to be the starting goalie but Talbot was brought in as insurance. Ullmark is coming off a 34 start season with a 2.69 GAA and .915 SV%, he is viewed as next years starter but has no reliable back up plan behind him

No, I'm wondering why the change in situation for other teams doesn't effect a team who was rumored to be worried about money already. Just because they didn't act upon it doesn't mean the rumor wasn't true.

No team had trouble spending money to reach the cap floor this offseason, if things were to get so bad that teams suddenly would want to reduce costs down to the floor, why wouldn't you expect the Pegula's to be among them especially after Taylor Hall's contract is only 1 year long.

Basically when you are saying the bad things that happen will only help you rather than effect you, its just another bad homer take in that you are hoping for the best possible outcome.

Ullmark played 63 games prior to this season and averaged 2.69 .918sv%, Rittich played 22 games and average 2.96 .902sv% prior to 18-19

The rumor that they were worried about money is verifiably untrue, so that question is unanswerable. Yet you continue to bring it up and your only defense is, "but yeah I heard it so clearly youre wrong'.

    how is it verifably untrue?
    >Taylor Hall
Signing Taylor Hall doesn't verify it as untrue, just that they chose not to act on it. The fact they didn't want to commit real money and only gave Hall a 1 year deal suggests the rumor was in fact true and they decided to wait and see how the finances this season go.

No Ullmark averaged a .910sv% and a 2.86GAA. At least try and be accurate with you numbers

the rumor said they were going to self impose a cap of 73-75 million. Theyre at 79 with Cozens. 81 after cap penalty. I also pointed out numerous times that Buffalo should be aiming for 75-76 mill so they dont get hit with any more cap penalties. Theyve exceeded even that

And that isnt proof that the rumor was false, just that they didn't act upon it. By their other actions (short term deals, etc), they have still indicated that they arn't ready to commit big money going forward until the picture clears a bit.

They signed Hall to a short term deal because they didnt want to lose Dahlin over him, but are open to him returning if they have the space. Reinhart and Olofsson would have commanded more money if they signed for longer, which would again put them over the cap. Adams/Krueger dont seem to like Montour and their were "rumors" that they werent even going to qualify him, which were stupid and false. They'll try to move him and probably Risto because they both will walk as UFAs
