Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 16, 2020
Published: Nov. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not too much going on year 1. In my opinion, we are in a win now but not at the same time. They're core is older so we will try our best to win. We will be a border line playoff team and get a top 18 draft pick. We will work our way up and combine our younger guys with our veterans.

Bruins pass. Don't want Shaw and Halak is an upgrade on what Hawks have but he isn't a starter. Athanasiou is a perfect fit to Strome and Kane.

Strome isn't getting half that contract. Ew.

It's the potential. Being a Hawks fan, I know he deserves 4 mil but he is probably going to live up to that. Also, people in the comments are gonna hate me for putting it around 5 mil.

I thought the Bruins might want some depth and be fine with having Delia as a backup. Carpenter and Shaw would be pretty good scrappy 4th line forward on the Bruins and a good injury replacement.

I like the AA signing and I am a fan of Halak but to be honest Hawks are not even a bubble team in my opinion. So I'm not sure what upgrading at goalie does. I'd honestly rather (and Stan has said this countless times) see what we have in Delia, Subban, and Lankinen and let the team get another top 10 pick. We take this year to also see what we have in Mitchell, Beaudin, and Nylander. We take this year to see which Strome and Debrincat will show up. Maybe after the trade deadline we see what Kurashev, Entwistle, Barrett, and/or Hagel have to offer.

Seeler is not on this team. Mitchell and Carlson are. Smith is on LTIR. Seabrook will rotate in/out of the lineup. Zadorov plays LD. Kubalik plays LW1.

Yes, depth is always welcomed but for a team that needs to sign a top6 guy, may need to add a top4 D and that has $6M in cap space, having a guy like Shaw at $3.9M isn't helping. Bruins also have enough C and RWs. Carpenter's not bad, he can help on the 4th line/PK but B's have enough 4th liners. Personally, I like Delia but I'm not sure how good he would be and we really need two great goalies for this year so the preference is to keep Halak.

This is preparing for Pt2 of the rebuild and Halak is just an expiring contract to have for a year. Looking back Mitchell will be on the team but I wouldn't take Carlsson over him. Also, this is a team that will be decent for a while because they will have Kane, Toews, and Keith. Then hopefully DeBrincat, Strome, Dach. And maybe Boqvist, Nylander, and Kubalik. They are just going to keep this process going and maybe win a couple chips along the way. Lastly, I do agree that they won't be very good first year maybe get a top 10 pick but second year, Nylander, Dach and them will be better and the Kane, Strome, Athanasiou line is going to blow up.
