Description
All I did was sign Myers!

Here's where covid, an usual offseason, uncertain season setup, impending expansion draft, and a flat cap all combine for an interesting, somewhat lame offseason.

I believe at least for now, Chuck stays with this until strides are made against covid. Having any sort of regular season in a bubble is unrealistic. At the same time, look at the NFL and baseball. Both sports have more players on a team, but if the NHL season starts and these teams are traveling around then there is a likely chance players will contract the virus and likely miss at minimum 2 weeks. This doesn't even include the chance at normal injuries especially with an un-organized off-season training program in place. Factor in all the things like the expansion coming up and a flat cap, and it just makes way too much sense to make a deeper team this year than trade and spend right now. Keep these young guys as well as they are valuable 2-way contracts that can move up and down plus the potential is worth holding on to.

Let the expansion play out, then thats when you make big moves to transform the roster a little bit. In the mean time, Gus isn't much better than Ghost so give Ghost a chance to rebuild trade value, and if he has any resemblance of a somewhat okay season. SELL HIM. Eveb if he's really good, SELL HIM. Why? You have to get some value, because he's so inconsistent he may fall right off a cliff again.

Chucky is being smart to sit still. Anything he wants to change about the team was made more difficult when the flat cap was implemented. Keep a deeper team. Its definitely frustrating given how great the team looked during the regular season to not make an extra push to go all in on a Cup, but in all seriousness making big moves right now might prove to be too risky given the current climate of the league. Give us this year where it may not even look as good as last year, but then right after the expansion make some moves to adjust the roster.

Their D core worries me frankly. I see a very solid number one and a solid number 2 in Provorov and Sanheim, but I don't see any number 3. Gust and Myers are number 4s in my eyes. Braun is a number 5 and Ghost sucks at defense while not bringing much in terms of offense. If they could move Ghost for scraps and sign Vatanen I think it would be great for them.

Yeah I'm not saying don't try to make any moves at all. Its just smart not depleting long term cap or valuable prospects right now with so much unknown. Trying to get rid of ghost for scraps and then signing Vatanen to a 1 year deal would still be a really safe solid move that improves the team.
