Are you sure you are not protecting the right D -Man? One could make the point that Chiarot was should be protected over Edmundson. I keep seeing Chiarot name in trades and I wonder why? From what I saw he played real well with Weber. Maybe if Montreal doesn’t want him they could trade him back to the Jets. We sure missed his presence on the back end and his ability to kill penalties.

I would've tried to lock up Lehkonen at 2.8 for 6 years. I doubt he'd request Kotkaniemi money. I'm assuming Mete or Edmundson was protected over Chiarot. I'd agree with protecting Mete but only under the condition that he plays first pairing with Weber. Since you scratched him and probably protected Edmundson I'd have to ask why because Chiarot is superior defensively and is relatively the same offensively. They both have the same cap hit, cost efficiency wise it would make the most sense to keep Chiarot and loose Edmundson.
