Description
Home town discounts from some veterans can free up some cap space for a big signing, although Shattenkirk is about all that's left for big names. Schwartz and Larkin give them a legitimate three lines that can score. Signing Miller to a long-term, low cap hit deal helps a lot.

Wouldn't Detroit be much better off signing Shattenkirk and keeping Larkin? Like 10X better. Forget Shattenkirk and Larkin. Sure, the Blues are trading Schwartz for a prospect. Miller and Burrows? If Miller is # 1 goalie as you suggest he isn't signing for 2m a year.

Detroit is at the cap limit already and have 8 players to re-sign next year including a big raise to Tatar, so no, they won't be signing Shattenkirk anytime soon. Tanev's contract is much more reasonable.

Miller will be splitting the time with Demko. Just because he's on the top on this page, doesn't mean he's getting any more games than Demko is. And sure he's making 2 million per, but for 6 years, so that's 12 million total for a guy who's only got a couple of years left. A very palatable buyout which will work for both the team and Miller.

Sanheim isn't just a prospect, he's a 1st round pick defenceman in his fist year of pro who will probably be an NHL defenceman next year. St. Louis also has 8 free agents looking for new deals, and will have to pay Parayko a pretty hefty raise. They also have $900k in cap space currently, so that should be no problem right? I'm sure the cap will go up by 10 million.

Jaden Schwartz for Sanheim? Like how he will probably be a NHL defensemen next year. So lets trade Jaden a proven young goal scorer for a palatable dman, had to put that in. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
