Yes! I actually made some comments about it today. I think that this is what would happen by the end of the year or next season. Caufield would still be essential on the PP and on KKs RW.

If he really wants a long term contract now, Danault could agree on a new deal before the trade. Add a first anf Guhle whos close to Caufield in terms of value but less of a need since we have Harris and cie. Armia or Lehkonen should be part of the deal as well. It also depends on what other deals Jarmo will receive. If CGY offers Monahan (younger than Danault), Pelletier, a first and another good piece, we are screwed

Mtl can’t do the second trade btw. They have no cap space. I suggest they add Tatar to balance the cap, he is basically replaced by toffoli.

Then you just trade 2 top 6 players for one who isnt even a 70 pts player.... MTL would less great after such trade

I think you can drop atleast one of the assets in the trade. Tatar is also a ufa and mtl can’t afford to resign him and danault if they get Dubois or even if the don’t. KK is a future top 6 player but he isn’t right now. Dubois’ point totals are low because of the system he plays in. Look at what happened when Panarin left, the same thing looks like it’s about to happen to josh Andersen too.

Also idk who else they would add to make the cap work. CBJ likely has no interest in Byron and it’s not eneough to make the cap work.
