Howden has been playing well. I think he should get a look as 2C.

Holy smokes I did not realize the Rangers are paying almost $13 Million in buyouts this season. WOW! holy mackinaw!!

At 5'9 Blackwell is hardly a beast, though he is stocky at 190 lbs. I would have no problem with Howden moving up to the 2nd or 3rd line. But I believe Blackwell, when given the opportunity, will outplay Howden or anyone else put at center to replace Chytil while he's out.

The silver lining to the exorbitant buyout expenditures is that it's mostly a result of signing Panarin. The Rangers had to buyout Shattenkirk and trade both Vesey and eventually Namestnikov. As well as possibly another move or two that I might be forgetting, in order to become cap compliant.

The rest of the bulk of the buyout expenditure is because of Shesterkin proving he could very well possibly be an elite NHL goaltender. Which led to Lundqvist being bought out because no team offered a fair return of trade for Georgiev at last years trade deadline. Which led to it now seems, Lundqvist breaking his heart both figuratively and literally.
