Irresponsible to pay that much without Hjalmarsson coming back as well.
I get that Tippet's been afraid to start Skinner and rest Koskinen, but the real issue is the blueline and scoring from the bottom six. Neal appears to be injecting something down there, as he, Kassian, and Turris have been more productive since they formed a unit. Neither Khaira and Shore have the toolboxes to offensively support the 4th line: Nygard is effective in this role, and I recon Archibald's utility and modest ability to produce is enough to warrant him a roster spot. Johan Larsson would be a good grab in my mind there, his underlying numbers and ability are intriguing.
For cap reasons and considerations to Arizona's financial position, you're probably looking at swapping Khaira and Neal in that deal for Chiasson and Larsson. They're at least flippable pieces for the Coyotes. Drop Steenbergen and put Hjalmarsson at 50%. Might have to add Benson if Arizona wants more. Given how the organization isn't big on him anyways, I don't think that hurts the overall plan in any form. Even then it's a massive buy that I don't like, but it solves Edmonton's issues as soon as the 14-day quarantine is over.
Question is, can Edmonton afford to lose two weeks of games? Calendar is getting mighty short these days.
