Why are we trading Virtanen & a pick for someone who hasn't played pro hockey yet? Tanev trade is good if Tampa is willing. Markstrom is staying...Demko needs at least 2 yrs in the AHL no matter what.

Ask yourself this: Why did Edm trade arguably the better player in the deal for a RH dman? Answer: Because they were so weak at that position that they were willing to lose the trade value wise to get the player they wanted. (And Chiarelli is a bad GM)

Why would TB trade for Tanev? Answer they wouldn't because they are way more deep than Edm were and lets just say they did want a RH top 4. They aren't desperate enough to trade arguably one of their better players to do it. Then you have to also factor in that TB needs to lose salary going forward, not gain it.

I get why people use the Hall for Larsson trade as reference but that more or less established the bracjet of cost to get a dman of that calibre but it isn't the template for all trades going forward.

Under your logic In order to get Ekblad from Florida, the only player worth it is McDavid? That makes no sense.
