Why is Lauzon packaged with McQuaid for only a 5th rd pick?

For someone to take on McQuaids contract. Same kind of deal that occured with blackhawks and hurricanes for Bickell last year. Doesnt have to be Lauzon but bruins will need to sweeten the pot for someone to take on McQuaid.

I think eating up to half of his contract would be sweet enough for a 5th round pick to a team who could use a bottom pairing/gritty d-man. If I'm giving up one of our best defensive prospects, I'm trying to get a solid piece back.

Some of these are just, flat-out, terrible.

Like it was touched on packaging McQuaid with one of our top defensive prospects for a 5th round is awful. You won't have to sweeten the pot by such an egregious amount. McQuaid's contract is not as ugly as it appears. 2.75M per is around what comparable bottom pairing (established) defenseman make. Yes, it's a bit long but by the time it would be traded he'd have what 2 years left? Not that long.

Completely missed the boat on the Beleskey and Lindgren for Kujawinski deal. What is the purpose of that, exactly? Lindgren is another solid defensive prospect and Kujawinski is a 'meh' prospect at this point.

I would assume Fowler would cost more than that.

Uuughhh nothing sucks more then defending players on the rival team but I'm a man of my word. cheers

McQuaid is not the same level of bad as Bickell is. Not even close. Nor is Boston in a position where they have to make a deal to make cap space. Chicago made the Bickell trade because they were really tight to the cap and had very few options and Bickell was so bad that they had to overpay just to trade him. I think its safe to say McQuack is no top pairing dman but most teams would take him off you hands for cheap. No need to add a solid prospect.
