It'd be really nice to bring deHaan back, but the Islanders need to cut salary not add. Take Hickey also and you can buy him out next season. We'll add a 4th.

This is actually a really interesting move. I'd like to see the Islanders acquire another left handed defenseman to replace Andy Greene at either 2LD/3LD and De Haan could kinda fit that role. Not sure where Soderberg would play, considering the forwards are kinda set unless there's a bigger move to be made elsewhere, but I do like the depth he brings and could play center in the bottom 6 if we needed him to. The price isn't crazy rich and they can shed some dead money.

For the Hawks, they aren't getting a lot back and they're adding a pair of money anchors but it is better than potentially losing CDH for nothing at the expansion draft and I do like having another 2nd round pick. Wouldn't mind seeing something like this go down between my top two favorite teams

thats my fear with holding on to De Hann
