It isn't an offer that makes any sense for Ottawa. Monahan doesn't make any sense as the main piece for Ottawa. He's not a 1C, he doesn't make them better, and he'll need a new contract when Ottawa looks to be competitive.

Looking at the rest of it, it's a lot of good, not great. Dube is a bottom six forward, Mackey is basically a depth guy imo, and Pelletier is a good prospect, but he's not an impact talent imo.

In theory, it looks great... but there's no way you can gut both teams like that practically.
Not to mention, none of these scenarios help our struggling defence - they're leaving our goalies hanging out to dry.

-Monahan can be a 1A until Stützle or Norris are ready then becoming a 1B. He leads his draft class in goals and third in points. He can be traded fairly easily at the end of his deal

I would have to agree its probably short on getting Brady, but I think it would just need a few tweaks

The Sens Don't need to trade Brady Tkachuk to get a C to play behind Stützle. They already have a C who will play behind Stützle. His name is Josh Norris and he's 2nd in rookie scoring.

Don't get me wrong, Monahan is a great player, and would be a great piece for some team. But he doesn't really change what Ottawa is short term, and he's redundant long term on a team that is in a good position down the middle.

I would think Flames fans would understand better than most what you lose in trading a guy like Brady Tkachuk. Not only are you losing an elite 1st line power forward at just 21, you're losing so much more than that.
