Description

Connolly is a 6’3” winger that’s fallen out of favour in FLA - ice time is down from 14 minutes a night to 10 per night this season. He had 19, 22, 15, 15 in goals the last four seasons with only 9 of those coming on the PP. We was a big part of WSH strong third line during third cup run with Eller and Burakovsky. With retained salary he makes essentially the same as Engvall with an extra year of term and offers greater potentially to provide offence in a top 9 role outside of the PP.

I don't think the Leafs are actively looking for a winger as much anymore unless a significant upgrade is available at a cheap cost. & their cap situation limits that as it is. With Kerfoot moving to the 2nd line LW it seems to fit that line well, the need has shifted to a defensively reliable 3C instead
