Leafs 2020-21 Season

Created by: Leafs01
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 4, 2021
Published: Mar. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With all the rumours of a Granlund trade to Toronto it almost feels inevitable at this point. Leafs give up a 2nd, a depth roster player who still has something to prove and a mid-tier prospect for a rental at 50% retention is probably fair value, slightly lower return than Toffoli got LA last year.

Palmieri would also be a great fit for the Leafs, pending UFA who can play solid top 6 minutes. Kerfoot could be moved with Granlund in as he has the ability to play up the middle or on the wing. Devils get a guy with 2 more years on a front-loaded contract, a 2nd and Kokkonen and could still resign Palmieri in the off-season. Throw Kulikov in there for defensive depth and salary retention to make the money work.

Leafs now have a lot of lineup flexibility, could play Granlund at 3C or on the wing with Engvall at 3C. Boyd, Vesey, Barabanov, Galchenyuk could play in place of any injuries and until Simmonds is back but this gives the Leafs really strong lines top to bottom.

IMO this is as good a year as any to go for it. Not often the Leafs will have a route to the conference finals without it going through Tampa or Boston.

Love the moves but i think Granland will cost a little more. 2nd yes and a better prospect like Abramov or Hirvonen. Who knows....Go leafs Go!

Ya could make it a guy like Hirvonen instead. Depends what Nashville thinks they can get

Could upgrade the pick to a first but I don't see why they would hold onto Palmieri when they won't make the playoffs and can go after him in the offseason again anyways

Palmieri has a NTC and I doubt he waives for Canada. If he does waive, I would trade him for a 1st+

Certainly makes no sense exchanging the superior Kerfoot at centre for LWer Granlund and expect him to play centre.
Plus you all that quarantine time.
Agree with comment above, Palermeri isn't waiving for Canada, if only for the isolation period.
