Description
Sabres are very weak at LW position and stacked at C/RW in organization. Buffalo moves from area of strength for area of weakness. I'm still pretty sure Chicago does everything possible to keep him but everybody said the same thing about Saad

Oduya is brought in to be a veteran top-4 dman until Guhle is ready. Ullmark gets a chance to battle for the #1 goalie position and Niemi is a solid veteran who has a Cup to teach him how to be a pro. Top-6 is full of firepower and the third line is even able to score well as long as Ennis finally gets his game back from injuries. Kane plays with him for

Then who do the Sabres have in net for the future? I don't think Lehner is the guy for the future, but he's better than anything they have in the system. I like the Panarin trade though. Might downgrade the draft pick to a third rounder. Definitely think Reinhart would thrive with Chicago, and Panarin would thrive with the Sabres.

Linus Ullmark is our up and coming goalie who has played very well at every level he's played. He's with Rochester this year and their announcer said "Ullmark has been ROCHs best player all season long." He gets a year taking 50/50 with Niemi and will learn from him. Worst comes to worst Buffalo also has Cal Petersen who is at ND rn and has started 60 something straight games. He is compared to Ryan Miller which is not a bad comparison at all. I agree with your Chicago trade comments! I did a second because I didn't want to undervalue Panarin

Ullmark has been a disappointment in Rochester this year, I doubt GMTM is opening the door for him next year...

The Sabres injury crisis severely depleted the Amerks Dcorp to start the year with us having at one point Falk, Fedun, even Burgdoerfer in NHL with Nelson injured. Ullmark had basically no help and was still sporting a .912 save % which isn't great, but not bad either. He has also had some games he flat out stole the win from the other team which is also something we can't say about Lehner. I'd rather get a veteran to slowly ease Ullmark into the with next year then pay Lehner to a starting goalies contract for 3-4 years

We definitely can say that about Lehner, I dont know what you are talking about. Lehner is a really good goalie and he's doing it in the NHL. Ullmark is at best a back up. Cal Peterson is the next best prospect the Sabres have. Ditching Lehner for Ullmark sets the Sabres back years. Especially because the Sabres defense is so weak.

Our views of Ullmark differ. He was absolutely amazing in Sweden when he was over there, very good season last year in AHL, and having a pretty good year this year with not a lot of help. Lehner hasn't stolen us a game, he has just been very solid but imo has failed to really get us that big time save late in the game when we needed it

Lehner stole every win he had in the first 25 games of this season woth 0 goal support. When the team one of the least scoring teams in the league (in the first quarter of the year they were the least) with one of the worst defenses in the league, the fact they both have under a 3 gaa is astounding and Lehner has a .921 save %. Thats amazing, this team was gutted with injuries.

I'm with Shibbal18 on this one, I think Lehner has been doing great this year when you consider how bad the injury bug has hit the Sabres this year. With 31 games in the books O’Reilly was out for 6, Kane was out for 11, Eichel out for 21, Ennis has only played 12 games this year, Gorges broke his foot but was only out for 3 games, Kulikov has only played in the last 17, Bogosian and Deslauriers have only played 11 each. With the number of top bluelines and top line forwards we have had go down at the beginning of the year for us to be around .500 is amazing and speaks to how well Lehner and Nilsson have played to keep us within striking distance of 3rd place in the division. We are what 5 points back of Boston with 3 games in hand for 3rd place. The biggest hard spot with Lehner and Nilsson for that matter is getting a win in the shootout but we would have to have someone that can score a goal on the shootout for that to happen. I think GMTM tries to keep both Lehner and Nilsson next year if he can get good contracts. I think your going to see Kulikov stick around as well. I don’t see picking up Oduya on the 2 year contract either. I think trading Reinhart would be a mistake as well, your justification is because we are stronger on the RW then LW but you trade away a very good RW/C and bring up Nylander to play the spot you would have had Reinhart in? I would rather have Nylander on the LW with Jack and Kyle and leave Reinhart with O’Rielly and either Foligno, Ennis, or Kane on that wing.
