Don't you think this is a lot of A's and B's for a team that isn't close to putting up a fight?

It's in comparison to all of the other players on the team or else everyone's grades would be lower. And Devils are putting up fights

Other than Smith and the guy whose face was crushed in by Subban, they should all be C or lower.

Palmieri and Bratt both are D's in my view.

There is nothing to be excited about in this lineup. Dark times ahead.

Palmieri C-
Bratt C
Maltsev/kuokkanen B
Sharangovich B-
Zacha B
Johnsson/Subban/ Dell C-
Tennyson B-
Vatanen is dangerously close to an F

This is my opinion compared to what’s expected of them but I don’t think a lot of them have been good enough to be rated that highly. They do have a bright future when their prospects start to fill in the gaps, especially on D but until that happens you can only wish for some more progress and consistency from the young guys

He had the one big point streak but was also brutal to start the season. He is starting to put it together but isn’t there yet and needs to become more of a shoot first player with a faster release IMO. Hopefully when Hischier is back he can get more consistent time on the wing and go on another run. Until there is more consistency I can’t give him an A

I agree but the team as a whole is very inconsistent. I think Zacha has gotten way better from last season. That Nico, Bratt, and Zacha line was great before Nico got hurt

How is that a troll? Devils are a bottom-5 team. And their leading scorer is ranked #130 in the NHL (Zacha). Hughes is #183. Wood #196. Ty Smith #200. Palmieri #231.

They have played poorly.

and the Rangers are a bottom 10 team who are 4 pts clear of the devils, and the devils have two games in hand.

The Rangers have played equally as poorly.

By points Devils are bottom-2. By points % (which make up for games in hand), Devils are bottom-5. And they are getting blown out of the water.

And the Rangers are the youngest team in the NHL.

Most Devils fans would trade their situation for Rangers situation in a heartbeat. And you know it.

Thats the problem. How are the Rangers going to pay Kaako Laf Fox Shesty Mika Chytil Miller in the next 3 years with the cap not going up. Don't say trading Kreider and Trouba because they have NMC

We can trade any of those guys. Worse comes to worse, just stick them on LTIR. No cap issues whatsoever here.

You can't just do that. They actually have to be injured. And they have NTC SO YOU CAN'T TRADE THEM UNLESS THEY WANT TO BE TRADED

Kreider and Trouba do not have no-trade-clauses until 2024-25. So, yes, I can trade them anywhere until July 1, 2024.

And LTIR rules are very loose since cap is flat. Boychuck, Little, Shaw...these guys aren't injured as much as they have a doctor's note to get to LTIR. Insurance isn't paying out their salaries (they do when there are real long-term injuries). They are just bloated salaries their teams want off the books.

There is no cap concern whatsoever for Rangers.

Devils are the second youngest team in the NHL, and that's only because they signed Kulikov and have Zajac on the roster. Take them off and they're the youngest.

I am aware of what points % represents, but that doesn't change the fact that the Rangers are 4 points better than the devils with 2 games in hand. You talk all this **** about your team being the best, but in reality they're just as dreadful as the devils are.

I disagree. Panarim has been out. Zibanejad and Kakko had covid. Chytil, Miller, Trouba have been hurt. Deangelo debacle. Rangers have faced some serious adversity so far this season. Now they are just warming up and about to add Kravtsov.

Devils will be bottom-5 team for at least 2-3 more years. Rangers will be going for a cup during that time span.

I don't know how anyone can honestly compare these two teams right now.

Rangers future is very bright. Devils future is very dark. And even most devils fans agree with me on that.

"Now they are warming up"

*Checks notes*

Rangers have lost 3 straight with a combined score of 13-3. Not sure how you can call that warming up.

You talk about coming through adversity- 18 devils players had COVID, and it's pretty obvious a lot of them are still suffering the side effects from it. Keep in mind this is the same excuse Ranger fans roll out for Mika's slow start.

Devils have also had their best player for 5 games.

Not sure why you think the Rangers will be cup contenders next season, or even the year after that. They have shown nothing to support that claim.

18 Devils players have had covid? No. They were exposed and had to quarantine. One doesn't suffer side effects of being quarantined. Other than boredom.

Kakko and Zibanejad actually had COVID. Very different things.

Kreider has a NMC his whole contract. After 2023-24, he has a M-NTC as well but he STILL has a NMC. https://www.capfriendly.com/players/chris-kreider

Trouba has a M-NTC after 2023-24 but NO ONE would want his awful contract https://www.capfriendly.com/players/jacob-trouba

Rangers are in cap hell
