Interesting take since they are currently contenders and adding a really good D man and a scorer allowing for a unreal shutdown line makes them a lot better...

Why would the Cup hopeful trade their 3rd best Dman and their 7th Dman for a "futures?"

Their "7th dman" gets paid over $3 mil per year and still has time left on his contract whereas Schultz is a UFA...could swap out Schultz for MDZ since he is in the same situation but comes with a bigger cap hit this year. And ANA will need to make some moves to become legit contenders as well but unfortunately for them they have ZERO cap space.

Well if we'll talking about a Cup run this year, the aging Ducks are, having Vatanen makes them better. Actually next year, they are not bad for cap space
