Why on earth would the Leafs give Justin Holl away for virtually nothing?

I don't want to pay that price for Ekholm, just for him to be claimed by Seattle at year's end. Plus trading Holl who is great value for a 4, 5, 6, does not seem wise.

I also don't get how his minutes are an issue. He's playing 20 minutes a night.

Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Marner, Muzzin, Reilly, Ekholm, Brodie, Campbell. The only difference is Ekholm instead of Holl...

As I said I don't see the reason or rationale for trading Holl for an upgrade sure but costing us our first only to lose Ekholm in the expansion draft. I don't like the price, and that offer will get beat anyway.

Leafs would go 4-4-1 in the expansion

Thus... Engvall, as a player was NOT in the Muzzin deal. If not, I would add another mid pick or spec

Look, I love Holl, but the man is so inconsistent. Ekholm would be safe in a 4-4-1 scenario, and is a clear upgrade here and brings more playoff experience as Ekholm has gone very deep as well and is fantastic defensively.

I just do not see how with this trade, the Leafs don't lose someone with good value (Kerfoot) in the draft for Ekholm. Plus, the Leafs get beat on this trade by a better offer, and I simply put think there are better ways of upgrading the team. I also don't like Ekholm's fit with the D core.
