Honestly, given Colorado's drafting record, I wouldn't want the picks. I would want players who are close to NHL ready. The Avs have been a disaster picking after round 1. I would think Juulsen & Scherbak would both have to be in the deal.

Last I checked the Avalanche weren't jumping into a full on rebuild, let alone one where they aren't even seeing the picks returned to them until 2019. That means you're not getting any payoff until at least 2021 or 2022 which makes no sense with the rest of the pieces the Avalanche have put together. So no, sorry. A couple of late firsts doesn't get you the Avs top scorer. Likely the only way they deal him is if they get a significant defensive piece in return. Think Johansen-Jones or Hall-Larsson (even though that one was bad value)

Yeah those trades could work but there has to be a fit though. Duchene is good but if they are looking for a top 2 defenseman, not many teams have them to give up, and especially for a forward who lacks in the defensive zone.

Agree with Watty, the Avs would want guys who are near NHL ready, and the Canadians don't seem to have those guys. Of all then contenders...Philly, St Louis, Dallas (if they're contenders) might be better options.

This isnt NHL 17. Unless its a guaranteed top 5 pick in a good draft year youre not getting a big name player for it.
