Description

Prior to the start of the season Keefe did a radio interview where he said Thornton was specifically brought in to play 1LW so that he could put Hymen Kerfoot and Mikhayev together as his main shutdown line. Right now Kerfoots playing with Tavares and Nylander because I guess he didn’t like what he saw with Vesey playing there? Now that shutdown line is a pseudo shut down line with Engvall there instead. When Wayne Simmonds comes back he could take that 2LW spot (I believe he played there right before he got injured?) and it’ll push Kerfoot back down but in the playoffs I’d rather have a tough 4th line with Simmonds Spezza and Boyd. Do you think Galch can take 2nd line spot at some point in the season? Or Simmonds? Or via trade? Robertson?

Simmonds will play on the fourth line. He hasn’t really been good this year outside the power play. Great player to have in the room and in certain situations not much more.

Thornton is currently playing on the second line and Hyman on the 1st.

Galchenyuk will be lucky to get some games in on the fourth line, nothing more.
