If the Leafs are retaining salary than your going to need to offer more.

No way the leafs make that trade. Try your 2017 first for starters but I don't think CHI has the assets to trade for JVR.

Elleaf: What's so special about a 2017 first rounder? What 27th overall? If the Leafs think former first rounder Schmaltz is going to be a good NHLer, and Pokka an NHLer (though I have my doubts), then the deal is fair.
The Leaf dilemma though, JVR makes them better now...and trading for a bunch of futures may not be the way Leaf management wants to to right now.

I disagree the Leafs are almost as good without him. The offence isn't going anywhere and that's all he adds to the team. And they are keeping their top 3 or 4 scorers. And I would trade Polak and then you'd find out real quick if Pokka is any good (most likely based on Corrado's playing time lol)
