2017-2018 Blackhawks after Breadman extended

Created by: chitownmvp01

Description
Possible roster trying to fit everyone in after Panarin signed an extension. Kruger would go to Vegas, but it doesn't allow me to do that in Armchair GM, so I just traded him to a random team. I think TVR gets protected from the expansion draft because he's cheap, playing well and the Blackhawks are thin on the back end. Kero is a direct replacement to Kruger. While probably not as good or better than Kruger, he plays a similar role. Defensively responsible and has been trusted on the PK by Coach Q. Expect Shalnov to sign contract similar to Panarin's ELCS. If not, maybe DeBrincat makes the jump. Slightly over 4 million is left available due to bonus overages expected to near 4 million. Projecting cap increasing from 73-74 million. Anything less can pretty much guarantee that Hjalmarson is traded due to all the NMCs. Hjalmarson has a modified NMC.

I don't know why everyone thinks Vegas is going to take Kruger? He's a 3C and they can get someone cheaper to fill that role through FA and TVR or Pokka has more long term value to them.

If TVR is protected who does Chicago leave unprotected? Seabrook? Keith? Hjalmarsson? Not likely.

Well when you say Not Likely...it's really...The Hawks are required to unless they have a secret desire to leave a cup contender and start over in Vegas. Kruger is a #3C no doubt, but he's a stud PK and pretty good @ the dot. Besides, Vegas can't just take all prospects. They're still required to reach the cap floor. I can think of dozens of worse contracts in the NHL than his. Oh, he's won 2 cups too. You may be able to sell that to fans. It's between TVR and Kruger. Kruger while more money is a much better player.

Before the Panarin extension I was quite confident that the Hawks would have protected Kruger. Don't think that's an option anymore. Kruger's NMC clause doesn't kick in until after the expansion.

Vegas needs to take expensive players because they need to reach a certain amount of money toward the cap. Seabrook, Keith, and Hjalmarsson have NMCs, so they will be protected. Hartman would be exposed though.
