    Leafs have Matt Martin for reason. And Martin has 33% more scoring points than Hayes. 3 points Hayes, 4 points Martin.

    Why would you want a 4.5 million dollar back up goalie for another year? We need cap space for Pastrnak next year. Terrible move.

    Very true, but also with the mcquaid trade you'd regain 2.75m cap space

    Also, I think his buyout hit is only 1.6 mil. So you could grab him this season, hope for a cup run giving Tuukka some rest along the way, and then just cut him at the end of the season (or trade him if he started playing decent towards the end of the season)
