Dermott has been good this year. His advance numbers are as good and better than Oleksiak. And that is with him having Bogosian as a partner. Who does Oleksiak play with? One of the best defenceman in the game. So how do you think he'll do with a worse partner? Better than Dermott? Highly unlikely. As you can see, I am using a lot of reasoning.

BanMe, I like Dermott, but having that beast Oleksiak, who looked amazing last cup run, is a boost for the playoffs for sure. If it was engvall and a 2nd I'd do that deal. If it was dermott and a 3rd, i might even do that. If this is for this years cup run, you got to make the moves, and I think the leafs with Oleksiak in the lineup is better.

I am not necessarily looking at this season. Dallas has been in disarray and they are probably the biggest disappointment so far this season. Oleksiak was a beast in the bubble last year, and it caught my eye and many others. Dermott and Bogo have paired really well together, but it also helps that the Leafs don't give up many goals anymore, and don't concede much zone time like in past years when Dermott was a sub-par defender.

I don't think he'll do as well as you hope with Bogosian as his partner. He's big and that makes people like him but that doesn't mean he'll fit the system.

Basing decisions off small sample sizes never is wise.
