RHD help in offseason

Created by: Seanovision
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think you have to go big game hunting for a RHD. There is a massive need in Ottawa for a good RHD, to either play with Chabot, or to play on the other pairing so that Chabot doesn't need to play as many minutes. The score enough as is. An established RHD, and consistent goaltending, and this team gets a whole lot better next year.

For Seattle expansion, I assume they will either take Gustavsson, Daccord or Hogberg. Whoever is left unprotected.

I see them signing Sanderson at the end of the college season next year, which is why I show him as signed, but not in the top 6. He will be once he is signed.

I think teams like Ottawa and Detroit that have several picks can poach a few players from teams ahead of the Expansion Draft who might have been lost to Seattle. It’s a great opportunity honestly.

If they get Martinez, I would be ecstatic! Probably even a better fit than Hamilton considering the offensive minded guys they already have on the left side, at a lower price point. What do you think, 5 years x 5 mill?

I am thinking Guenther, Clarke, or Beniers are the organizational need. I dont think they need another high end LHD. That being said, Best Player Available is never a bad way to go if they feel like Power, Edvinsson, or Hughes is better than all the rest.

AM is 34 in July. I’d say a 2 year deal at maybe $3-4 m Max. He’s got a great track record with 2 Cups and 2 WCF appearances. Great stats. Plus player for his career. But not at $5 for 5.

Should have a look at David Savard in the offseason. Lots of jam left in his game. 30 years old. UFA in July. Likely cost around $5-6 m per for 4-6 years.
