  1. Holtby, Braden ($2,150,000 retained)
  2. 2021 5th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Holtby is paid 4M but his term would be one more year at this point meaning Vancouver would retain him for a year and it would be his second year until his contract expires meaning Seattle would only pay him 2.150M and then get to resign him or do whatever they decide so its a win-win for Seattle.

2.150M is actually a good price for Holtby and is a decent backup and who knows, maybe 2018 Holtby will come out again in 2021-2022.

Just keep Holtby. Trading him with retention only saved 750k. The Canucks are also not gonna trade a top 10 pick just to move Eriksson

This is all good except this years first in the Eriksson trade will likely be too 10. Maybe Detroit sends Washington’s first back, so Canucks simply move from like, 9th to 23rd or whatever instead of losing their entire first round pick.

Also you could buyout holtby and save even more cap space this year, but then I guess you’re trying to avoid the cap hit for 2022-2023

If you trade Holtby you gotta replace him, which cost 1.5mil in this scenario

What about a protected 2022 1st instead?

I guess it depends on whose available at 9 versus 23.
