Description

Welcome to another installment of "What-Ifs With Bobcat".

Back in 2011, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded Jakub Voracek, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Jeff Carter, since CBJ needed a center to complement Rick Nash. Carter spent 8 months in Columbus before being traded to LA, where he became a big part of their Stanley Cup runs. The 1st round pick that was traded to Philadelphia became the 8th overall pick, which was used to pick Sean Couturier. What if Columbus didn't get impatient and waited to pick Couturier?

Voracek is never traded to PHI, and Couturier was drafted #8. With the C and LW taken care of, we never sign Gus Nyquist.

I think it would mean a lot more, you probably don't draft PLD, and other players as well. It just doesn't come back too Gustav Nyquist

I didn't have to do anything with PLD, since he's gone. Who else would have been gone? I'll edit those in.

Think his point is more so saying that CBJ would’ve never been drafting 3rd overall in 2016 with couturier and voracek. So, get rid of laine and Roslovic to start. Then you have to look and think about what else they wouldn’t have.

I mean who knows what could happen, that trade happened 10 years ago, that is 10 years of rosters changes and building rosters based on this trade. Its a massive domino effect.
