Well if you just look at numbers then yes it does look bad. Calgary had 12 blocked shots tonight and the only shots that did go in were high danger situations. There is an argument he should have had the powerplay one from Norris but the the first goal was giveaway to a wide open Brady Tkachuk who had enough time to make a coffee, and on the 2nd he made the initial shorthanded save and no one got the trailer.

first goal he was out of position he was squared to the skater and not the puck, i wasn't able to watch the rest of the game so i'll have to take your word on that, but the issue is this year is Goals saved above expected is a -7.3 thats in the bottom top 10 for starters this year, i can say i've watched a good amount of calgary's games this year and i even have many flame fan friends saying this to me markstrom has not been good this year overall he has shown some signs of his vezina side but its very far in between games

Im not really sure what you are expecting on the first goal, Valimaki tried to make a cross ice pass that deflected off the forecheckers skate straight to Brady Tkachuk who just walked in on a pseudo breakaway and scored it. Very few if any goalies in the league are expected to make that save, especially against a top end player like Brady. Marky has had his fair bit of rough games this year but he has also been hung out to dry more than a handful of times. He is still very good and a strict upgrade on Rittich.

I expect him to be in position for the goal, like i said had been squared to the puck he would have a wayyy better chance at making the save not only isn't he square he goes into his butterfly to early, he bites way to easy on the fake shot and it throws his positioning way off

and? with markstroms positioning there a career echler could score that, it's a terrible read by markstrom as simple as that
