TB needs Dmen and Wild would love to boost RW depth and add scoring. Both are young with several years of team control remaining.
Cap space should work out today with accumulated space. Worst case, Wild ride a 20 man roster for a few days to make it work. The bye week alone would get us under the bar.
Accounting for expansion, there should be room for Nino and Granlund extensions whether the cap is flat or rises to the projected $75,000,000. Obviously the higher the cap, the easier they fit.
Good thought on the trade. Kucherov you would think would be too much for Dumba and the picks. Dumba for Killborn straight up might be more acceptable for the Lightning.
While I like some of Killorn's advanced stats, I'd rather throw more in to try to get Kucherov if he is actually on the table. He's a high scoring right winger which is something we could use.
Killorn is a LW which we already have too many of both on the roster (Granlund was forced to RW because of it) and in prospects (Kaprizov, Greenway, etc) that he would be potentially blocking out of a roster spot. Also his contract is less than favorable. Corsica's production age curve has him being overpaid once he hits 30. Since that would cover half his contract, I'm not really a fan. Based on what I've read, he seems to have a lot of similar traits to players we have on the roster already. Kucherov has things we need which makes him a more favorable trade target even if it requires a slight overpayment.
I don't want to lose Dumba...but in a package for Kucherov...I'd have to seriously consider it! I'd rather trade Spurgeon here, however...
The fact that you'd even consider it is a big compliment in my eyes, Bassman.
I would have to disagree with you on Spurgeon over Dumba though. Depending on which advanced metrics you look at, Spurgeon consistently one of the best players on the team which would mean a greater detriment in a cup run. Based on what Boudreau has said and other teams' interest in our players, Dumba has the highest perceived value of all our defensemen and would make the trade easier/cheaper. Remember Columbus reportedly wanted Brodin AND Nino for Johansen last year which proves how low teams value some of our guys. He also has more team control than Spurgeon and is a year younger than Kucherov which helps even out the deal a little bit more in my mind.
