Mtl doesn't need to protect Radulov unless he signs with us before the 1st which i doubt will happen Radu understands the business and he understands he needs the best team to win the Cup. Might take a small salary cut ?
Lekhonen, mccarron, scherback are all exempt.

Personally i believe if Vegas is smart they'll either take 3 possible players.

If that's the case, I would protect Shaw and expose Mitchell instead. Mitchell has a chance of being picked but its a lot less then Shaw. Chances are if you leave Andrighetto or a Hudon available, they'd be easy pickups for a building LV team. Unless they get freaky and go with Emelin or Plekanec. We could offer LV some draft picks to take one of them off our hands.

Yes it's an option hudon isn't eligible to expansion draft is he if he is i would prptect him before shaw...

It's 7 forwards and I would guess Radulov stays and will be the 7th forward.

Right oups Radu will stay he's just gonna sign on july 1st ! Not before to let bergy have more players to be able to protect.

Depends if we sign him before July 1st. There is a really easy work around to this. Agree to a deal with Radulov now and only sign it on July 1st. That way MTL doesn't need to protect Radulov. The player takes the risk that the GM goes back on his word but I don't think there is any GM taht would do that with such a high profile player. It would be media/ethical suicide.

Hudon is exposed. I wouldn't use a pick on him over guys like Byron or even Mitchell. Whether we like it or not, Hudon is a dime a dozen. Great AHL'er, fringe NHL'er.

The NHL said they could penalize teams trying to cheat like this with deals before the expansion draft.

Any source for that? Would the penalty even be enough of a detractor and even then how could they possibly know? Nothing is signed or provable. This is a verbal agreement. Nothing the league can do to stop that. A player has the right to tell the team he will sign with them whenever he wants. Lets just say there wasn't any expansion draft, Radulov can tell the Habs he wants to stay but just wants to see what the best offers he could potentially get would be. Other teams can only negotiate with him starting July 1st so there is nothing wrong with that. He's also free to change his mind and totally screw the Habs too! Its a two way street.

Either way nothing is provable.
