If the Jackets win the lottery

Created by: Jacketsman61

Description
If the Jackets win the lottery, they could do multiple things with that pick. They could use it in a package to obtain Eichel if Buffalo trades him. The Jackets could trade down depending on the order the draft goes. But for the sake of this post I am going to say the Jackets use it.

I really think Jarmo needs to really infuse this team with more talent. RNH is a guy who can really drive the play and possibly unlock the potential in Laine. Signing Denault really gives the center position a much needed lift but his overall ability as a defensive center could really help cover for some of Laine’s defensive short comings. I think Domi maybe in the second line center role with Atkinson and Bjorkstrand on the wings.

This year's draft is very weak. I don't think the number 1 pick gets you close to Eichel. A significant amount would need to be added.

I agree unless the Jackets were to move Werenski and package most of the return and add to it, Eichel is out of reach. But to be honest it wouldn’t be worth it. The Jackets are better to fill the pipeline and develop. You only trade for Eichel if he is the piece that wins the cup. Right now that is not the case in Columbus.

I wouldn’t say it is weak. I would say it is intriguing for the lack of scouting. Might be some real sleepers in there.

It is weak and the lack of scouting doesn't help the team with early picks. Apparently the 2022 draft is much stronger.

No, not even if we included Werenski. Remember, they've already got Dahlin; they're not looking for a top LD. They want centers, much like we do.

Not what I was saying. I was talking about moving Werenski to a different team and using that return to help facilitate. But even then I do see your point

Edmonton declines. They could get a much better goalie in free agency for similar money without giving up a pick.
