Description

Samsonov signs a 1 year low AAV deal to "prove" he's the #1 goalie. He hasn't put up the numbers to get a substantial raise (.902 sv%, 2.69 GAA). If he commands more, Dillon may be dealt.

I still think Sprong is the one selected in the expansion draft due to his production in relatively low ATOI, but Vanecek seems to be the consensus pick in the expansion draft for the Caps. Caps decide to protect Samsonov because he has a higher ceiling, regardless of off ice issues.
