Description
Dumba trade may be different than this just want to say that he would be traded.

Probably would sign another solid defenseman.

Also I just put a goaltender in there but doesn't have to be Nilsson.

I agree on Dumba. Though, it would be great to find a way to keep Brodin.

What if Minny traded Dumba for Shattenkirk at the TDL? They would upgrade for the cup run this year and then let him walk so they wouldn't have to protect him. Blues would throw in an exempt prospect. Something like
    St. Louis Blues
    Shattenkirk
    Schmaltz

    Minnesota Wild
    Dumba
    2nd rd pick

That actually leaves us with the same problem we were trying to fix by moving Dumba. Now we have to figure out whether to protect Brodin or Shatty. and if we protect Shatty, now we are in cap hell. I don't think Shattenkirk fits at all.

No, what I'm saying is you get a rental and an asset for Dumba. Shatty doesn't need protection. He's a UFA and off the books after you hosers win the cup this year. Maybe the value isn't right in what I proposed, but the theory is that the Wild become more competitive this year and are able to gain an exempt player to aid in protecting assets in the expansion.

I agree Dumba is worth more than a mid first round pick I probably wouldn't trade him for a pick/picks until knowing the draft order. I also like the idea of trading for a couple of top prospects that don't need to be protected. If anyone has recommendations about teams that would be interested in Dumba for at least 2 top prospects who are close to ready for the NHL please post thoughts.
