Everyone knows Montreal is going to lose the series against the leafs down 3-1, whether it be tonight or Saturday, it will happen, and whether or not this creates real change in Montreal, here is what I would like to see happen.
Many people are claiming Montreal needs to do a full rebuild, and while I understand the rationale, I don't necessarily agree with it. I feel like Montreal just came out of a rebuild where guys like Patches, Galchenyuk, Markov, Radulov, Plekanec, left via trade, free agency or retirement, and we picked up young players like Suzuki, KK, Caufield, Romanov, ect. Now I have my doubts about whether or not KK or Romanov will be what we expected, but so far Suzuki and Caufield have progressed nicely. I do think there is a good young core there, is there a Connor McDavid level talent? no, but you don't NEED a McDavid level talent to win, look at St. Louis, Boston for examples of teams that won without a 1st overall pick. If Caufield is everything that he is supposed to be, then he should be our future "game breaking" talent, but time will tell. Regardless I think the current Montreal team lacks vision and good coaching, I personally think Ducharme has been quite awful, making very poor decision making. I think the coaching staff as a whole needs to be rebuilt and overhauled, along with management, but as far as the players on ice go, I don't think they're necessarily a bad team. The defense to me is a glaring issue and a big reason why we generate so little offense.
I thought everyone knew a week ago TML would win this series easy.
Montreal is clearly over their head this is not a fair match up. To be honest the Habs are the problem , just not a playoff calibur team. They are bad really bad.
Its rebuild time, but you cant do that til Price retires. Cant trade that contract hes just no good anymore.
Its will be 5 years minium before this franchise is competitive again.
Well playoff contender amyways.
What a disgrace in Montreal.
