In a way you are answering my question . Even though the contract cost dollars , JVR is still 20 goals a year 50 pt player , and only for two years. He would be a salary dump by Flyers I would think so if you could send back Roussel or Jake one of his years would be priced at 4 mil

oh i get what you are saying.
but to what end? what is the purpose of JVR, he doesnt push the canucks over the edge. But it will cost them a pick?

through in Patrick and then the deal gets worked out.

This is what I am sort of trying to do . Bounce ideas off fellow posters. I did have a scenario where Patrick was thrown in or Jake and Loui for JVR the the actual cost is only 1.5 for next year . I have no intention of throwing in a good prospect or high draft pick.

I am just also trying to find an experienced 20 goal scorer . Nothing next year is going to put us over the top. I think when they very young core get a little older and smarter then we are ready .

While JVR has an expensive contract, I think he provides the same thing to the Flyers that the canucks might like and they wouldn't look to move him unless they can improve their team.

Maybe something around Myers and a pick but even then I don't think they would have much interest in Myers.

Schmidt perhaps 1 for 1 but that doesn't help the Canucks

I think most fans here would love Schmidt for JVR. Schmidt had a very rough start when he got here and a lot of the fans never forgot that. He did a lot better after the first month but I am sure it would get their attention for a swap.

If the Jets don't lose Stanley to Seattle, they'll just keep him.

Schmidt didn't have a great season but he was still arguably their best all round dman this year. Moving him for a winger and taking on extra salary puts the nucks even further back.
