This assumes all players waive their M-NTC deals and Jones extends.
Also if Johnson doesn't play X number of games the Aves owe a 3rd.

Sakic is the cap king and he's going to need it to resign some key players. Kadri may have worn out his welcome yet again and Johnson is dead weight for them now. They gain a top pair right handed dman in his prime and possibly thier new starting goalie and around 6mil in cap space.

Jackets only take on these contracts and hold cap for that late 1st and Newhook.

I think the Avs have to add something. Johnson and Kadri would be cap dumps, and the first and Newhook don't cover that as well as Jones and Korpi (esp with retaining salary). My guess is that COL could afford to add a value D contract into this to make room to resign Jones, which would probably need to be either Girard or Toews. They've got such a deep blueline, they can afford to move one.

I think they should add graves. he is a 6'5 220 pound 26 year oold left hand defwecneman u put jone on the top pair move teows to the 2nd pair and kepp the 3rd paring the same

He would work too. The reason I suggested Girard and Toews is the length and cost of contract, since Jones will most likely be 7-8 mil for 7-8 years, and they need all the cap space they can get to sign McKinnon and others.

I was going to add Graves but thought it might be too much to ask with newhook involved but dutchies is right, especially with the expansion draft coming up. They can afford to move one.

How in the hell is Kadri a cap dump? And in what world do the Avs need to trade for another defenseman and a goalie? This trade makes absolutely zero sense

Kadri effectively made him self expendable with yet another playoff suspension. He did the same with the Leafs. Not saying he's not a good player (he's always been one of my favs), but he's proven now for the third time that he can't control himself in the playoffs, and the Avs of all teams cannot afford to roster players like that within this peak winning window (with some pretty big deals to sign over the next couple years). Therefore, that makes his salary a cap dump, as no team with playoff aspirations will be willing to part with important pieces for him, knowing that he could cost them a game or even a series.

He had 18 points in the playoffs last year and no suspension. That and he averages ~50 points per season in a normal year. Does he have control issues in the playoffs? Yeah, no doubt, but that alone doesn't make him a cap dump. And to your point, we have some guys that need new deals this offseason, so a 2C making $4.5 million holds immense value to the Avs. Finally, let's say the Avs were to trade Kadri, it wouldn't be for Jones and Korpisalo. That would create an even bigger logjam at D, in addition to further cap issues, so it solves absolutely nothing. If there were another 2C coming back? Sure, why not? But this makes no sense.
